What The Calc

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Overview

What The Calc is a collection of free online calculators and converters. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the site, who collects it, and the choices you have.

There are no user accounts, and we never ask for your name, email address or other personal details. Every calculation runs entirely in your web browser. The numbers, dates and other values you enter are not sent to our servers and are not stored by us.

The language you choose is part of the page address (for example, /en/ or /es/), so no cookie is needed to remember it.

Currency exchange rates

When you open the currency converter, your browser requests the latest exchange rates directly from the Frankfurter API (https://frankfurter.dev), a third-party service. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address to that service. Only a request for the rate list is sent, not the amounts you convert.

To keep the page fast, the rates are cached in your browser's local storage (localStorage) for a few hours. This copy stays on your device and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings. If you pick a display currency in the tip or compound interest calculator, that choice is saved there too, so the next tool starts with it.

The site also uses your browser's session storage (sessionStorage) only to recover from a page that failed to load. It is cleared when you close the tab.

Server logs

Like most websites, our web host automatically keeps standard server logs. These record technical details for each request, such as your IP address, your browser's user agent and the page address you requested. They are used to keep the site running, secure and free of abuse.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used as a whole, for example which tools are popular and which languages people choose. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies and collects information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location and the type of device you use. We look at this information in aggregate, not to identify individual visitors.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which keeps the site free. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings at https://adssettings.google.com. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, visit https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will see a consent message provided through Google's certified consent management platform. Analytics and advertising cookies are used according to the choices you make there, and you can change those choices later.

Your rights and choices

You can block or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies. Some features, such as saved exchange rates, may then reload more often, but all of the tools will keep working.

You can opt out of personalized ads at https://adssettings.google.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, or to object to how it is processed. Because we don't hold accounts or the values you enter, most data related to your visit is held by the services named above, and you can contact them directly. You can also reach us through the Contact page.

Children

What The Calc is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new tools or services. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Please check back occasionally to stay informed.
